Valentines Day activities typically mean a special night out, a romantic dinner and gifts. But you can add unique touches to the experience with these ideas that don’t cost a dime. In the interest of fairness, the ideas alternate between genders but you can use most of them with either a man or a woman.

Valentines Day Activities at Home

Warm her robe and slippers, so she has something toasty to slip into as the first of her Valentines Day activities. Just before she gets up, you can throw the robe in the dryer for a few minutes on a warm setting, or heat the slippers up with a hair dryer.

Tell him to count as you kiss him for every year you’ve been together. Remember that there are other body parts to kiss besides the lips. If you want to add a bit of intrigue, take off one article of clothing from him or from you. Then ask him what the number means. If he forgets, or loses track, repeat the kissing. But this time put back the clothing on him or you. You may need to repeat the kissing yet a third time to remove the clothing.

Draw a heart or say I love you on the glass door of the shower stall or bathroom mirror using shaving cream or lipstick. If cleaning chores are a sore point between you and your significant other, make it known that you’re cleaning up the romantic graffiti.

Using large headlines from newspapers or magazines, cut out words that express your feelings. Lay them out, one word at a time, in a path that your loved one usually takes, or that leads to a romantic gift.

A foot massage is a great way to end your Valentines Day Activities. But before you start, have her rest in her favorite chair, and bring a warm bowl of water to wash her feet. You may want a separate bowl to catch any drips from her feet. Scented soaps and oils are a nice touch.

Valentines Day Activities Outside

Call her smartphone or answering machine and leave a romantic poem read by you or a romantic song sung by you.

When you’re driving in the car to your Valentines Day activities, rest your hand on his thigh. A bit of a massage might be welcome on a long job. Just be careful how high up the thigh you go, since you want him to concentrate on the road. While waiting at a stoplight, massage one or both of his hands.

Buy a web address in your partner’s name, such as www.johnsmith.com, if it’s available. Create a page with as many of the following items on it: a poem, some romantic artwork, pictures of the two of you, his favorite music, or a YouTube video of a love scene. Turn on the computer and put the web page on the monitor. Then put either the screen or computer to sleep. Your website will be the first thing he sees when the computer or screen awakens.

Hide her present in an unexpected place outside the house such as your favorite park haunt, in a shopping mall store or in the corner of a parking structure. (For the latter two, you may need to convince employees at the site to keep watch over the package. Many will do so eagerly, if you tell them it’s in the name of Valentines Day.) Then at an appropriate moment, ask her to look in the hiding place.

You make some good suggestions, often people forget that the extra attention and intimate time is more important than the gifts.
